The project will be divided into five phases. The work is expected to commence in the spring or summer of 2010, and will be ongoing, with some intermissions, until 2017. The timing and order of the project is not final, since there is quite a number of factors to be considered.
The first four phases of the project will require a total of 380 man-years, i.e. 380 full-year positions to be divided over the time period.
Estimated construction cost is 27,3 billion ISK, according to January, 2009 cost index.
