Forsendur núverandi meirihluta sveitarstjórnar Voga út úr korti

stofnlinNúverandi meirihluti sveitarstjórnar Voga hefur byggt afstöðu sína um að háspennulínur þær sem Landsnet hyggst reisa skuli leggja í jörð að stórum hluta á greinargerð Almennu verkfræðistofunnar (AV) sem gerð var í mars 2008, eins og meðal annars kemur fram í frétt RÚV í kvöldfréttum sjónvarps, 11. október sl. Landsnet mótmælti strax á þeim tíma forsendum sem lagðar voru til grundvallar landverði í skýrslu AV og hvernig það var nýtt með margföldunaráhrifum til að lækka kostnaðarmun á milli háspennulína í lofti annars vegar og hins vegar háspenntra jarðstrengja.

reykjaneslinaLandsnet sendi í morgun frá sér eftirfarandi yfirlýsingu í tilefni af fréttaflutningi vegna samþykktar meirihluta bæjarstjórnar Voga sl. miðvikudag, þess efnis að aðalskipulag sveitarfélagsins „verði tekið upp meðal annars með það að markmiði að breyta þeim hluta Suðurnesjalína sem liggur innan sveitarféalgsins úr loftlínum í jarðstreng".

1a: Hér er 11 kV strengur plægður niður.Oft er því varpað fram í umræðum um lagningu háspennulína að það hafi mun minni áhrif á umhverfið að leggja línurnar í jörð en loftleiðis á möstrum, nú síðast í tengslum við undirbúning að lagningu Suðvesturlína um Reykjanes. Vissulega má til sanns vegar færa að umhverfisáhrif jarðstrengja eru oft minni en loftlína en algilt er það alls ekki.

Environmental Assessment Concluded

HáspennumasturThe environmental assessment for Southwest lines has now been completed and approved by the National Planning Agency of Iceland, subject to a few conditions. The Minister for Environmental Affairs has furthermore come to the conclusion that the Southwest lines project does not have to go through a joint assessment along with other industry or power plant related projects which are under way in the southwest corner of Iceland.

Three appeals have been made to the Ministry for the Environment regarding the National Planning Agency's (NPA) ruling that the Southwest lines project will not have to go through a joint assessment along with other projects which are dependent on it and/or are in the same area. An extension to appeal the ruling expired on 4. December 2009.

Due to Landsnet's statement to the National Planning Agency, regarding the company's opinion towards a joint environmental assessment, it should be emphasised that the Southwest lines project will be able to meet the power requirements of a possible expansion of the aluminium plant in Helguvík, as well the future needs of other industrial and energy production projects, as can be read in the statement sent to the National Planning Agency on October 14, 2009.

Today the National Planning Agency ruled that the Southwest lines project would not have to go through a joint assessment along with other related projects which are dependent on it and/or are in the same area. An extension to appeal the ruling will expire on 4. December 2009.

Negligible danger of groundwater pollution

sudesturlinur_28102009The danger of groundwater pollution in the capital area due to the corrosion of masts is negligible. These are the conclusions of research done in relation to the Environmental Statement of the Southwest lines project. Extensive counter-measures are also planned to ensure the safety of the waterholes, which include no construction work on the water protection zones during the wintertime.
