Ground disturbance and traffic

E-mail Print
Horft yfir Hafnarfjörð. Hvítur litur táknar línur sem vera fjarlægar án þess að annað komi í staðinn, grænn litur táknar jarðstrengi og gulbrúnn nýjar loftlínur.

 Looking West over Hafnarfjordur.

Existing paths will be utilised as much as possible, and as little ground disturbed as possible. In some areas, entering virgin territories is unavoidable, especially near Hafnarfjordur. Electrodes are put in the ground next to towers as well as line pathways. Underground cables will be constructed between the new plant in Hverahlid to a substation on Heillisheidi heath, in Hafnarfjordur between Hamranes and Hrauntungur, between Njardvikurheidi and Fitjar, and from Fitjar to a proposed aluminium plant in Helguvik.

No new gravel mines or pits will be opened to provide material for this project.

The production area lies partly through a water preservation area, and it is important that the rules regarding traffic within such areas be obeyed to the fullest, so as to avoid pollution due to the equipment and traffic.
