Mitigating Measures

E-mail Print

landsnet_stjornstod

Landsnet keeps abreast of constant development and improvement in the design of energy transmission system, and contrives to use the latest technology and equipment to minimise environmental effects.

Space for new transmission routes is hard to come by, so an increase in the demand for transmission has to be met with fewer, but more powerful, lines.

Sogslína 2 verður rifin

The line Sogslína 2 will be torn down,

replaced by more powerful lines.

Direct mitigating measures because of the renewal of the Southwest transport system includes removing older high-voltage lines and reusing the old line’s right of way for the newer and more powerful lines.

Also, the choice of towers can contribute to minimising the visual effects of the system.
